Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison scored in the last quarter of an hour as Leeds jumped opponents Newcastle in the Premier League table after an entertaining 5-2 victory.
The visitors went ahead against the game’s streak midway through the first half through Jeff Hendrick, but goals on either side of the interval from Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo turned the game around.
Ciaran Clark tied shortly after Rodrigo’s goal, but Dallas restored Leeds’ lead, while quick counterattacks led to Alioski and Harrison scoring, the latter finding the top corner from 25 yards.
Leeds drew a line under consecutive defeats, but their set piece weaknesses were once again exposed, while Newcastle was denied a third consecutive victory for the first time since November 2018.
Sebastien Haller’s spectacular shot saved a point for West Ham in a 1-1 derby tied against crystal Palace.
The 45 million pound forward, in danger of being labeled a costly failure after a string of disappointing displays, scored an impressive aerial kick to cancel Christian Benteke’s first goal.
Benteke went from hero to zero after the break when he was sent off for catching Tomas Soucek with his arm trailing as they headed up for a header, but the 10-man Palace held on by one point.
Fulham came out of the last three after a close 0-0 draw with Brighton at Craven Cottage.
Adam Lallana thought he had scored his first goal for Brighton since joining the club in the summer, but VAR ruled him out for a hand in preparation.
Scott Parker’s men entered the game having won four points in their last three games against Leicester, Manchester City and Liverpool, and another point against the Seagulls saw them come out of relegation places on goal difference.
It was a cautious game of few chances, resulting in just eight shots on goal, four from each team, as neither side could find a decisive breakthrough.
