Dunnes Stores has recalled two chicken products for fear of bacterial contamination.

Items subject to recall are My Family Favorites Cooked Chicken Pieces and My Family Favorites 240g Cooked Chicken Tikka Pieces.

All expiration dates for these products are affected.

A spokesperson for the Irish Food Safety Authority said: “As a precaution, Dunnes Stores is recalling the aforementioned cooked chicken products due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes. Recall notices will be displayed at points of sale.

“Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and stiff neck.

“In rare cases, the infection can be more serious and cause serious complications. Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, infants, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly.

“The incubation period (time between the initial infection and the appearance of the first symptoms) is on average 3 weeks, but it can range from 3 to 70 days.

“Retailers are required to remove the implicated products from sale and to display a recall notice at the point of sale in stores where the affected products were sold.

“Consumers are advised not to eat the products involved.”
