Penneys to open two 24-hour stores next week

Penneys will keep two of its stores open for a 24-hour period the next week after they reopen.

The retailer said it would reopen all 36 outlets across the country starting December 1, once government restrictions have been lifted.

All stores will have extended business hours to meet pent-up demand in the run-up to Christmas.

This will allow customers to extend shopping hours and reduce queues, he said.

“We are delighted to reopen our stores in Ireland on December 1 with longer shopping hours to give our customers more time to safely shop for holidays,” said Paul Marchant, CEO of Penneys.

The points of sale in the city center and the main shopping centers will remain open until 10:00 p.m. on weekdays.

City stores and city shopping centers will continue to operate until 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Outlets at Blanchardstown Center and Dundrum Town Center will reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday and then stay open until 10 p.m. Wednesday night to help ease the pressure.

The company said safety will be its number one priority and that it will implement comprehensive measures.

These will include strict social distancing rules, limits on the number of customers in the store at one time, methacrylate displays in boxes, hand sanitizing stations and the mandatory use of face masks in the store by staff and shopkeepers. customers.

The stores have also been reconfigured to provide more space, while signage will be in place to guide customers through the store. Additional cleaning will also take place.

Other large retailers are expected to follow suit and open for 24 hours from now until Christmas to help reduce pressure on customers and staff after six weeks of closure.

A Penneys spokesman said an additional 24-hour opening between now and Christmas has not been ruled out, but there are no plans yet.
