Gardaí investigating the death of a pedestrian on the M50 motorway late last night is examining whether his car had broken down or suffered a minor collision shortly before.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was struck by a car in the northbound lane just before the Finglas exit at Junction 5, just before midnight.
It appears you had been driving a car just prior to the incident and may have had to stop after breaking down or after a minor incident.
Gardai is investigating whether he was later hit by another vehicle after exiting the car.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Since then, his body has been taken to the City Morgue, where an autopsy will be performed.
No other injuries were reported to others.
The highway section was fully reopened after being closed for a period of time for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators.
Gardaí in Finglas is calling for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
