A 50-YEAR-OLD MAN is in serious condition in hospital after a collision with a car in Sligo.

The incident occurred on John Street around 9.45pm last night.

The man was initially taken to Sligo University Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, but has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Investigators are conducting a technical examination of the scene and the road remains closed to allow it to take place, with local detours currently in operation.

Gardaí has ​​called for witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly road users who may have dash cam footage and who were traveling in the area between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
