Once again, Patrick Horgan played a decisive role with his contribution of 14 points.

Erin’s Own settled down better. Robbie O’Flynn’s pace on his front midline was significant as he marked the opening point in the fourth minute. This was followed by a goal from Maurice O’Connell three minutes later after a splendid play featuring Alan Bowne and Eoghan Murphy.

Robbie O’Flynn and Bowen extended the lead, Glen Rovers’ only response was two points from Patrick Horgan, one from play. Shay Bowen was also found to be lacking, a point-blank save by Conor Dorris. At the breakwater, East Cork’s men led 1-3 to 0-4.

A second goal from Erin’s Own came in the 18th minute. Another rising run from Robbie O’Flynn, his shot was stopped by Cathal Hickey but Cian O’Callaghan was available to find the net.

Erin’s rear was imperious, consequently her front unit enjoyed a great deal of possession, but they weren’t making full use of it, hitting five widths in that opening half to one from Glen Rovers.

Erin’s Own built up a 2-6 to 0-7 interval lead: Horgan and Dean Brosnan kept Glen in the game with final points.

Erin’s Own also had to deal with the loss of two of his mid-back line to injury: James O’Flynn and Stephen Cronin forced out.

Six points on the rebound early in the second half showed Glen was serious. They also introduced two substitutes. His firing may have been revealing in the first half, but now they were calm. Simon Kennefick and David Noonan also on target.

Glen Rovers took the lead, 0-14 to 2-7, at the three-quarter mark.

Erin’s estate was still finished. Robbie O’Flynn shooting up to the roof of the net.

The Glen again took the lead with four unanswered points. Robbie O’Flynn answered for Erin’s Own.

Three more points on the rebound for the Glen – sub Dale Tynan coming into action – were 0-21 to 3-8 by early stoppage time. O’Flynn added some great points, but Glen stood his ground.
