Parcel Motel has decided to temporarily suspend its virtual address services in the UK from December 28 due to the impact of Brexit.
It says that all packages crossing the new border between Great Britain and Ireland will be subject to customs duties and VAT.
Previously, it allowed customers to have products delivered to an address in Northern Ireland, and then the packages were transported to delivery lockers in the Republic.
However, that service will be suspended from that date due to Brexit changes.
An email to customers said: “At the end of the year, the UK will leave the single market and the customs union. While much remains to be decided on the future trade relationship, it is clear that when the transition period ends, the cost, effort and time of freight transport between the EU and the UK is likely to increase. All packages crossing the new border between Great Britain and Ireland must clear customs and will be subject to customs duties and VAT, which are not included in the initial purchase price of their products. “
