Gardaí is investigating the fatal shooting of a man in North Dublin last night.
The man, who is 40, was shot multiple times around 9 p.m. while walking down Belclare Terrace in Ballymun.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body remains in place awaiting the subsequent arrival of the State Pathologist.
Gardaí knew the man but not for a felony.
He had several convictions for crimes such as theft and robbery.
He was the father of a small child and lived with his son and his mother.
Gardaí in Ballymun has set up an incident room and is asking witnesses to contact them.
They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was in the Belclare Terrace and Belclare Park areas between 8 pm and 9.15 pm
They are also requesting images of the incident with dash cameras and mobile phones.
