Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has contacted Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho to tell him that the transfer to Manchester United is close, according to reports.
It is no secret that English international Sancho has been the main target of the Red Devils in this window.
But even though there are now only a few weeks left in the transfer window, the deal is not yet closed.
OPINION: Does Grealish ‘lack the ambition’ to live Villa’s dreams?
Sancho’s form has been remarkable in recent years. He has been prolific in scoring goals and assists for Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Of his 66 league games in the last two seasons, Sancho has been involved in an impressive 59 goals. This form has made him one of the most sought-after young players in Europe.
But Dortmund has held out for a fee of around 120 million euros (£ 108 million) – with Man Utd reluctant to pay that – and insists the 20-year-old former Manchester City player is happy to stay in Germany.
And now Norwegian outlet Dagbladet He claims that Solskjaer has “recently” contacted Sancho to tell him “that he believes the move to Manchester United will soon be on the stock market.”
Sancho has previously told Solskjaer that he is ‘interested in a transfer to United’ despite Dortmund’s refusal to compromise on his assessment.
Solskjaer “hopes to sign two players before the window closes” and Sancho is expected to be one of them.
