Crowds flocked to Cork city on Saturday night despite the Gardai cracking down on outdoor drinkers on Level 5.

Tonight, dozens of people were on the streets throughout the city and many were walking as officers took them out of public places.

A video showed Gardai chasing several youths down Tuckey St, while another man was chased over the Nano Nagle Bridge and onto Coal Quay shortly thereafter.

In the Tuckey St video, which was uploaded by charity worker Ali Hamou, up to 30 people could be seen running down a street with gardai chasing someone in their midst.

He described the situation as “crazy” and “totally out of control”.

Trash and broken bottles were strewn all over the Grand Parade as many smaller groups gathered separately to drink in the streets and alleys of the city.

People were flown from the boardwalk, Grand Parade, Washington St, and from the Intreo center.

Large lines also began to form outside city licenses.

Anglesea officers were present and several public order arrests were made.
