Today 127 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Republic, with no new deaths reported.
There have now been a total of 28,578 confirmed COVID-19 cases here since the pandemic began, with 1,777 deaths.
None of today’s new cases are in Donegal. Six were confirmed yesterday, and this week Dr. Paul Armstrong, who runs the Covid-19 Assessment Center in Letterkenny, confirmed to Highland Radio that the cases are being treated across the county.
Meanwhile, 85 new cases of Covid 19 have been reported in the North in the last 24 hours.
Brings the total number of cases to 7049.
No new deaths have been reported and the death toll in Northern Ireland remains at 560.

Today no new deaths have been reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Center.
There have been a total of 1,777 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.
As of midnight Thursday, August 27, the HPSC has been notified of 127 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There are now a total of 28,578 * confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ireland.
Of the cases reported today;
- 70 are men / 57 are women
- 80% are under 45 years old
- 66 have been confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case.
- 8 cases have been identified as community transmission
- 52 in Dublin, 13 in Monaghan, 9 in Tipperary, 8 in Meath, 8 in Wexford, 8 in Roscommon and the remaining 29 in Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Waterford, Westmeath and Wicklow.
The HSE is working to identify any contacts that patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.

Dr. Ronan Glynn, Acting Medical Director of the Department of Health, said; “While the number of people in intensive care remains stable, we have seen another 8 people hospitalized in the last 24 hours.
“If the cases continue to increase, we will see an inevitable increase in the number of people hospitalized. We all have a role to play in preventing that from happening.
“This weekend it is vital that people do their part by reducing social contacts. Don’t let your guard down just because you run into people close to you. Remember that just because someone looks and feels good doesn’t mean they don’t have COVID. “
