Gary Neville has chosen Juan Sebastián Verón and Bruno Fernandes as his midfielder partner on his Manchester United XI of all time abroad.

On Friday morning, the Manchester United legend was asked about Twitter to name his best Red Devils team, which did not include players from the UK or Ireland.

Neville left with a 4-2-4 formation, and chose Peter Schmeichel as his goalkeeper. In front of him were Rafael, Jaap Stam, Nemanja Vidić and Patrice Evra on defense.

Big weekend: Manchester United v Chelsea, Brewster, Ancelotti, Villa

Verón and Fernandes were selected as his two central midfielders. He then opted for a forward four from Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Eric Cantona and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

It’s hard to argue against most of these picks from the Sky Sports expert. Maybe you could defend Antonio Valencia to replace Rafael.

Valencia went from right back to right back for the Red Devils. He won two Premier League titles during his ten years at the club.

But the Brazilian played 170 games for United between 2008 and 2015, winning three league titles in the process.

The other controversial selections are Verón and Fernandes. Other prominent candidates to go there include Ji-Sung Park and Paul Pogba.

This is high praise for Fernandes de Neville. The Portugal international has only been at the club since January 2019.

However, he has made a huge difference for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team ever since. Fernandes has played 28 games for the club, scoring 16 goals and 11 assists.

Verón signed for United from Lazio in 2001 for about £ 28m. His time at Old Trafford was a bit disappointing. He spent two years in Manchester, before signing for Chelsea.

But in his time there, he made 82 appearances in all competitions. He scored 11 goals and received 11 assists while helping United win the Premier League title in 2002/03.
