Munster posted six wins in a row and is now 11 points clear at the top of Guinness Conference B PRO14 after a hard-fought bonus pint win in very difficult conditions at Scotstoun on Monday night.
Billy Holland, Fineen Wycherley, man of the match Gavin Coombes and Jean Kleyn all landed with Ben Healy scoring seven points off the tee.
Munster’s group was instrumental in the victory with three attempts coming from rolling mauls with the scrum dominating for the majority.
Munster won the kicking battle early on with contributions from Mike Haley, Calvin Nash, and Rory Scannell.
Billy Holland scored the first try in the 11th minute after smashing through a rolling maul to score in the right corner. Healy, upwind, kicked the touchline conversion brilliantly and Munster led 7-0.
Glasgow struck back immediately with a break from Tommy Seymour in the first phase setting up his first attempt when Glenn Bryce finished in the left corner.
The conversion was deflected, but Brandon Thompson hit a 50-meter penalty minutes later after a scrum penalty as the hosts moved 8-7 up front.
Wycherley scored Munster’s second try with a rolling maul shortly after half an hour after Healy went to the corner following a scrum penalty.
Healy’s conversion bounced off the post, but Munster led 12-8 and stayed that way until the break.
A high tackle on Haley gave Healy a chance early in the second half, but he drifted off target with the hard effort. The out-half then slashed a penalty to the corner, but recovered to land a long-range shot on goal after a scrum.
That made it 15-8 and when Munster’s dominant scrum earned another penalty, Healy narrowly opened with another ranger after 51 minutes.
Glasgow then enjoyed their best period just before time with the Netherlands sent to the sin bin after multiple penalties as Glasgow looked to break through at close range.
Grant Stewart eventually scored for Glasgow, but Thompson couldn’t add up the conversion and the 14-man Munster led 15-13 with 18 minutes to go.
Munster stabilized the boat and Ryan Wilson received a yellow card after 67 minutes for dangerously diving at Casey when the scrum-half was on deck.
Munster went to the corner and fantastic group work secured the third try as Coombes scored his sixth try of the season.
Healy converted superbly against the wind and Munster led 22-13 with 10 minutes to go.
Victory and the bonus point were secured when Kleyn scored another rolling maul later to continue Munster’s excellent start to the campaign.
