Never give up on Munster Rugby. While the province has suffered more casualties than ups over the past decade, the faith is deeply ingrained in Munster’s DNA. Down 28-9 tonight, in one of the toughest venues in European rugby, Munster found a way to beat Clermont Auvergne and win 39-31. The result is as inspiring as it is unlikely. The men in red were buried by each and everyone on social media during a sad first half, only to rise as Lazarus and achieve a victory that ranks alongside all of his famous European victories.
It was a well-crafted attempt from fullback Mike Haley that put Munster within contact distance of Clermont.
That is much more like @Munsterrugby 🔴
So fresh from the lineout and Mike Haley is always going to finish the move!#HeinekenChampionsCup pic.twitter.com/Pr7MdWvQEq

JJ Hanrahan scored 24 points on the road and Josh Wycherley was a force to be reckoned with in his first European outing. It was a famous team performance, but Munster was powered by man of the match CJ Stander. Stander scored the try that sent Munster past Clermont. He was also caught with a big smile on his face just as Munster earned a late penalty on a maul.

Not surprisingly, Munster fans were ecstatic after the full-time whistle, not just from this result, but from what it says about the promising players at Thomond Park.
It’s sacrilege to say it, but for me it’s a better performance than the miracle match. Coming 19 points behind, away from home, against legitimately one of Europe’s strongest teams and title contenders, it is an astonishing feat. I am really elated by this. Go ahead, guys.

Munster’s biggest comeback to win at the @ChampionsCup, turning around a 19-point deficit, bridging the 16-point gap they canceled to win at Sale in 2014.
