Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll has denied there were any bad feelings about actor Gary Hollywood leaving the hit show.
He said the 41-year-old Scotsman, who played gay barber Dino Doyle, left because his personal circumstances had changed.
Brendan added: “Some people claimed that Gary left because of a dispute over money, but it wasn’t true.
“They didn’t know the full story and it was friendly.
“I suffered a lot of abuse on social media, but I let it go through my head. Gary is a fabulous act and has worked with us on and off for over 20 years.
“He decided that he wanted to follow his own star and we are delighted for him.”
Gary separated from his first wife Sharon Mudre, with whom he has two children, Jack and Charlie, and they divorced in 2017.
He then met Cherylane and remarried a year later. They have a son, Oliver.
Mrs Brown’s Boys has signed up for BBC Scotland and was filmed in Glasgow from the start. The All Round To Mrs Brown’s chat show is also filmed there.
Brendan said: “Gary decided to move to Spain and establish a new life for himself and fair play for himself.”
Gary’s other half on the show, Rory Cowan, left the show a few years ago.
Mrs Brown’s Boys is one of the BBC’s greatest success stories.
