Spurs coach José Mourinho praised his team’s ‘impressive’ victory and ‘record’ beat Man Utd 6-1 at Old Trafford.

The match got off to an electric start after Davinson Sánchez conceded a penalty in the first two minutes. Bruno Fernandes put the Red Devils ahead, but the Spurs soon began to dominate the game.

Tanguy Ndombele equalized minutes later, before a brilliant goal from Heung-Min Son put the Spurs ahead.

The visiting team consolidated their lead with goals from Son and captain Harry Kane. They entered the break 4-1 up.

Serge Aurier got his fifth after an assist from new signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to end all thoughts of a possible comeback.

Paul Pogba was clumsy in his own box and dropped Ben Davies to give the opponent a penalty. Kane scored his second go of the game to make six.

Speaking after the game, Mourinho told BBC Sport: “It is history for Tottenham, history for my boys and I cannot deny that it is history for me too.

“I won many times in this stadium, especially with Manchester United but also with Chelsea, Real Madrid and now Tottenham.

“It is a victory for the squad, not just for the team, but for the squad. It is a victory of confidence, the team is so confident. To concede in the first minute we could have been destroyed. I am very happy, it is an honor for us to have this unique record in this stadium.

“We were the best team. They couldn’t stop us when we were 11 against 11. We were already winning, we were losing opportunities. The performance was very, very impressive.

“The message this week was that together and with this team we can do it.”

After the international break, Mourinho’s team will face West Ham at home on Sunday 18 October. Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will look forward to a better performance when his team play Newcastle away from home on Saturday 17 October.
