Mother and Baby Home Victims Will Find Out About Cash Compensation Plan This Week

Victims of Mother and Baby Home will hear the news of a major new cash compensation plan this week.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin has promised that “they will not find it lacking” in the government’s response to this week’s maternal and child homes report.

The report will reveal that up to 9,000 may have died in the 18 households over 75 years.

Mr. Martin has promised “a comprehensive package of measures” that is believed to include a new cash compensation plan for survivors.

It is understood that the brave victims of the mother-and-baby home system will also see new legislation introduced by the Minister for Children, Roderic O’Gorman, to help people trace their birth parents or children through the tough foster homes, if I wish.

Many have found that it was like banging their heads against a brick wall trying to find the truth in recent years and the Government wants to remove any potential barriers to the truth.

The popular 2013 film Philomena, starring Steve Coogan and Judi Dench, chronicles the harrowing struggle of a woman searching for her son’s identity decades after she was forced to put him up for adoption.

Details of the report were leaked over the weekend before the report was taken to Tuesday’s cabinet meeting.

The government has said that it is not happy with this and will also discuss the situation at the meeting.

Martin has pledged to apologize in the Dáil on Wednesday and provide as much assistance as possible to all those affected by the state scandal.

A government spokesperson said: “The Taoiseach has committed to an apology from the state, something that has been discussed and requested for many months.

“The Taoiseach and the Minister for Children promised that the government would not fail after the publication of this report.

“We understand the concerns of the Minister for Children (about the leak of the report) and will discuss them further at the government level.

“It is important, as we have said previously, that we respond to the needs of survivors with a comprehensive set of measures at the time of the publication of the report.”
