“Like everyone else in the country, we’ve had to re-calibrate how we do things, but as always, we have a brilliant guest list and musicians ready to kick off on Friday night.
“We have the good news for the summer as we reunited the heroic fishermen of Galway with the rowing cousins they rescued in August.
“This, the first weekend of September, should be Electric Picnic Weekend, with tens of thousands descending on Stradbally. It can’t happen this year, but we will strive to bring a slice of the magic home.
“I had the pleasure of spending time with the wonderful Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh inside Croke Park. He has seen it all in his 90 years and has a lot to say.
“Plus we have a one-of-a-kind, star-studded musical performance from Ireland’s best singers, and that’s just for starters. Friday nights are back!”
The new season of the Late Late show will begin on Friday on RTÉ One at 9:35 pm.
HERE WE GO
On his RTE Radio One show, Tubs said: “We are all giddy, anxious and excited for the return of the Late Late Show tomorrow night.
“We have a spectacular line-up, I think you’re going to like it a lot, which is good news and we’ve been planning the show.
“See what happened to the show in March, we were hijacked by Covid and we were adjusting and recalibrating, but now that we are entering the season fully aware of what we have to face, it is a very different proposition altogether.
“So we are going to do everything we can to offer them the best and we are very ambitious to do it every Friday night between now and the end of May.”
The RTE star said she was in Croke Park last week “for a very special reason” – to interview the legendary Micheal O Mhuircheartaigh, who recently turned 90.
Ryan added: “Micheal came and brought a couple of friends, his two daughters and one of his sons, and we sat and talked for half an hour … the interview won’t last that long, but he’s such a lovely human being. wise “.
THE TUBS CHALLENGE
Also appearing on the show is the group Irish Women in Harmony, who released a cover of the Cranberries song Dreams earlier this year.
The group’s video had more than 2.5 million video views and more than 200,000 all-time streams in five days.
Roisin O, one of the members of the group Irish Women in Harmony urged people to tune in to the show and watch the “girls take over the late state.”
One Healy also said: “Very excited to announce that I will be performing with Irish Women in Harmony on the Late Late Show tomorrow night!”
‘EXTRAORDINARY’
And Ryan said Gary Lightbody “will represent the Electric Picnic that wasn’t.”
The Late Late Toy Show host said what got him excited about the upcoming season was “the challenge of telling people at home that we understand.”
Ryan continued, “We just have to make sure that he feels safe, that he feels a little worried, if not a lot to say, and that he feels very, very entertaining.
“And that is a great challenge when there are no planes with guests, there are no ships bringing guests and very few films are made.
“Fortunately, we have wonderful, articulate, intelligent people in this country who have stories that are just wonderful and are willing to tell them.”
Ryan added: “We have other guests and other extraordinary stories tomorrow night.”
