Met Eireann’s weather advisories for the entire country have been updated with some areas being affected slightly worse than the rest.

Meteorological chiefs initially issued a warning for the Republic’s 26 counties, but they have since changed that.

The country is split between two yellow rain warnings, while a state yellow wind warning also goes into effect Tuesday morning.

The two rain warnings are already in place, but will last for different lengths of time.

Leinster is under a yellow rain warning status until 3pm Tuesday with up to 30mm of rain forecast.

All of Munster and Connacht, as well as Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal, are also under a yellow rain warning until 3pm Tuesday, although up to 50mm is expected in these parts.

A new yellow wind warning status has been issued for Wexford, Cork, Kerry, and Waterford from 5 am Tuesday until 3 pm.

The forecaster said: “There will be a lot of wind on Tuesday. Winds from the southeast, turning to the southwest will reach average speeds of 50-65 km / h, with gusts of up to 100 km / h. Exceptionally high tides combined with strong winds on land they give a high risk of coastal flooding. “
