Met Eireann has released an update to their yellow wind warning for Storm Bella that has been issued for all of Ireland.

While it was originally meant to be valid as of 3pm, it is now valid as of noon today as the winds will hit the capital.

It will be valid until 3 a.m. on Sunday and the wind is expected to reach an average speed of up to 65 km / h and gusts of up to 110 km / h.

The rain warning remains the same and will start today from 3pm

Met Eireann said: “On Saturday (St. Stephen’s Day), during the afternoon, afternoon and evening, the westerly winds associated with Storm Bella (named after the UK Met Office) will reach average speeds of 50 to 65 km / h with gusts of 90 to 110 km / h Winds will be strongest in the exposed west and southwest areas, especially tonight.

“With the combination of strong winds, high waves, and forecast storm surge, there is a risk of coastal flooding along the west coast.”

Here’s Met Eireann’s forecast for Dublin today:

Today, Saint Stephen’s Day, will start with wind, dry and cloudy. It will get windy during the afternoon and evening with very strong and gusty winds from the southwest. The rain will start later in the afternoon and continue through the night, becoming intense and posing a risk of flooding. Highest afternoon temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees.

Generalized heavy rains will gradually clear to the south tonight and will be followed by scattered rains. Very strong and gusty winds from the west to the southwest will persist early into the night, but the winds will subside overnight. A cold night with minimum temperatures of 2 or 3 degrees, with the possibility of frost and ice in more protected places.
