Met Eireann has issued three weather advisories for 14 counties as Sunday prepares to bring heavy rain and high winds across most of the country.
The national tipster’s warnings are as follows:
Donegal, Mayo and Sligo: Yellow Wind Warning Status
The strengthening of the northwest winds on Sunday will mean wind speeds of 50 to 65 km / h and gusts of 90 to 100 km / h.
Valid: from 6 am on Sunday to 9:00 pm on Sunday
Kildare, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo – yellow rain warning status
Heavy and persistent rain on Sunday with totals of 25-40mm expected, higher totals in mountainous areas. This can result in flooding of some rivers as well as surface flooding.
Valid: from 7 am on Sunday to 11 pm on Sunday

Galway, Clare and Kerry – Status Yellow Wind Warning
Winds from the northwest strengthened on Sunday with average wind speeds of 50 to 65 km / h and gusts of 90 to 100 km / h.
Valid: Sunday at 12 pm to Sunday at 10 pm
Northern Ireland: Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry – Yellow Rain Warning Status
Heavy rain is expected in Northern Ireland, leading to some disruptions until Sunday
Valid: from 12 am on Sunday to 6 pm on Sunday
The national forecaster says Sunday will be wet and windy in most areas with periods of rain throughout the day and cool to strong and gusty northwest winds and gale force winds off some coasts.
Some drier intervals will develop in the northeast at the end of the day. Higher temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.
On Sunday night there will be more outbreaks of rain in Connacht and Munster. Ulster and Leinster will be mostly dry, but some rain is possible in parts of western Leinster.
Fog patches may form over the eastern half of the country as the northwesterly winds subside, but there will be a breeze from the west and southwest. Minimum temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.
Monday:
Mostly cloudy, with scattered outbreaks of torrential rain, but also dry spells in many areas, with some bouts of brightness. Higher temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees, with mild to moderate westerlies, strong for a time on the west and southwest coasts.
On Monday night, there will be more scattered patches of rain or showers, but there will also be dry spells. Minimum temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees, in mild to moderate or variable west breezes.
Tuesday:
Cool and windy, with spells of sunshine and showers, most of the showers in Ulster, Connacht and West Munster, some strong in the north and northwest. Higher temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees, with moderate to cool winds from the west to the northwest, strong along the coasts of Connacht and West Munster.
More scattered showers Tuesday night, but also clear spells, especially in the east. Lower temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees, with moderate to cool winds from west to northwest.
Wednesday and Thursday:
Quite cool, with a mixture of sun and rain, the rains are more frequent in Ulster, Connacht and West Munster, some of them heavy. Maximum temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.
Winds on Wednesday mostly moderate to cool, from west to northwest, but strong off the coasts of Connacht and Ulster, decreasing mostly moderate from the west on Thursday, except on the northern coasts.
