Met Eireann just issued another yellow state wind warning for several counties, including Cork, as Storm Bella is programmed to blow up areas with strong gusts.
The warning, which takes effect tonight at 6 p.m., also affects Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.
“From this afternoon (Sunday) until tomorrow (Monday), the northwesterly winds associated with Storm Bella (named after the UK Met Office), drifting north overnight, will reach average speeds of 50 to 65 km / h with gusts of 90 to 110 km / h, “said the forecaster.
“The winds will be stronger in exposed areas and on higher ground,” they added.
“With the combination of strong winds, high waves and forecast storm surge, there is a risk of coastal flooding.”
The advisory is in effect until 2 p.m. Monday, while a yellow gale status warning has also been issued for coastal areas.
“North to Northwest winds will occasionally reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 today (Sunday) and tonight over Irish coastal waters from Carnsore Point to Erris Head and Fair Head.
“Southwest to west winds turning northwesterly will occasionally reach gale force 8 tonight (Sunday) in Irish coastal waters from Fair Head to Howth Head and Carnsore Point.”
