Paul Merson believes that Nicolas Pepe seems “out of reach” at Arsenal and claims that he has been “having a nightmare since he joined”.
Pepe was sent off in Sunday’s draw in Leeds and Mikel Arteta later said that he had let his teammates down. – but the club’s record signing responded as Arsenal achieved a 3-0 victory over Molde to qualify for the knockout stages on Thursday.
The Ivory Coast international impressed by staying in the starting lineup and had several opportunities, including a good shot from the crossbar, before putting the Gunners ahead with a successful shot.

Despite that good performance against Molde, Merson still believes that Pepe has much more to prove to convince him that he is good enough for Arsenal.
Merson told the Daily star: “Nicolas Pepe looks out of reach and he’s going to have to do it against teams much better than Molde to change my opinion.
“I can understand how he was sent off in the Leeds game. He’s had a nightmare since joining Arsenal and a Europa League goal in Norway won’t change that.
“He let his frustration get the best of him against Leeds and he did something silly with the head butt, because things haven’t been going well for him at Arsenal for months.
“It came in for 70 million pounds. If they had bought it for £ 20 million, no one would be sorry. But the rate creates pressure and he has not been able to handle it.
“I watch him play and I don’t know what he brings to the table. But it’s not their fault that Arsenal are struggling. “
