GAA legend Graham Geraghty returned home from the hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage and aneurysm in October.
Iarán Flynn, Public Relations Officer for Meath GAA, confirmed the update, as well as welcoming the good news.
“The Meath GAA community is delighted to hear the great progress that Graham Geraghty has made since he became ill,” he said. “Graham never backed down from adversity when he was in green and gold and is still showing his resilience now.
“We all wish Graham the best in his recovery and everyone at Meath is there to support Graham and his family.”
The forty-seven-year-old man underwent surgery at Beaumont hospital and was recovering well according to his wife Amanda Geraghty.
In a Facebook post last week, she said her husband had exceeded everyone’s expectations and was recovering very well.
“He is consistent, he speaks and has taken some steps,” he said. “He still has a long way to go and he wants to thank everyone for all of your prayers. [and] acts of kindness to me and your children, and good wishes. “
Since the most recent announcement that he was released from the hospital, even more people have shared their support for Meath’s 1999 All-Ireland winning captain.
Geraghty, a father of four, won two SFC All-Ireland titles with Meath along with two All-Star awards and three SFC Leinster crowns.
Around this time last year, many of his winning medals were taken during a burglary at his home, although some of them were later recovered.
Geraghty retired from international soccer in 2012, but continued to play for his club Clann na nGael until he was 40 years old.
