An employee of a McDonald’s restaurant in Drogheda tested positive for Covid-19, although the fast food chain has expressed confidence that the health measures it has implemented will allow it to continue operating normally.
The Irish Times understands that the part-time employee tested positive for the virus after attending an event outside of business hours and was not showing any symptoms prior to receiving the positive result.
All staff have been informed of the diagnoses and a deep cleaning of the restaurant has been carried out “as a precautionary measure.”
The employee now isolates himself.
“As soon as we were informed, an outside cleaning company performed a deep cleaning in the restaurant and we contacted all the restaurant employees,” said a spokesperson for the restaurant chain.
“We have a number of security measures in place to help keep our people safe, including Perspex screens, temperature controls at the beginning of each shift, keeping a two meter distance from others as much as possible, covering their faces , wash your hands regularly and use hand sanitizer. “
