Love Island star Maura Higgins was accused of embarrassing her native Ireland during Michael McIntyre’s new game show The Wheel.

The Wheel sees celebrities helping contestants on general knowledge questions in an attempt to win some money.

Maura was called in to help contestant Barry with the question: “Geographically speaking, from which of these Irish counties would it be more accurate to say ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’?”

The choices were Limerick, Donegal, Cork, or Dublin, and Maura, who is from County Longford, was completely baffled.

Maura lost Barry £ 10,000

Maura said to Barry: I think Donegal, Donegal is to the north, I would say Donegal is the farthest I think.

I’m between Donegal and Cork, I think … This is pressure!

But I also think Cork is the furthest away … Oh, this is so difficult! ”He said, changing his mind several times.

Barry had almost made £ 10,000 on the show.

“I will be ashamed of my life, they will never let me go back to Ireland!” Maura said.

Barry chose Donegal but it was wrong, and he lost his spot on the show and £ 10,000 after playing incredibly well almost to the end of the show.

He was absolutely crestfallen, and Maura was speechless, looking mortified.

Barry was completely devastated

One viewer tweeted: “If I’m honest I still can’t forget Maura picking up bloody cork over Donegal.”

Another wrote: “Passing by my tl, it seems a lot of Irish were watching Maura Higgins misunderstand the question about Ireland in #The wheel Cork is not far from Tipperary … Donegal definitely is.

“Someone get him a map of Ireland for Christmas! Mortifying!”

Maura had chosen Ireland as her specialist subject

Another joked: “Oh friend, Maura will never be able to set foot in Ireland again!”

“Oh my, Maura Higgins and her geography knowledge. Cork is a long way to Tipperary apparently #The wheel#Ireland, “He added a fifth.
