Man rushed to hospital with serious injuries after accident on N28 between Cork and Carrigaline

Emergency services have closed a section of a busy Cork road after a serious accident.

The N28 is closed between Carrigaline and the city after the collision that occurred around 8pm.

Garda coroners are currently working on the site and the road will remain cordoned off until the wee hours of Monday morning.

It is understood that a man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to CUH.

A gardai spokesperson said there are deviations.

They said: “Traffic Alert Cork: serious RTC tonight and the N28 from Carrigaline to Cork City is currently closed in both directions to facilitate forensic collision investigators.”

“The highway will be closed until the wee hours of the morning and there will be local detours.”
