A man died after an accident on the M50 in Dublin on Tuesday afternoon.

Gardaí has ​​confirmed in a statement that the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene following the collision on the southbound M50 between exits 12 and 13.

The incident took place around two thirty in the afternoon.

Forensic collision investigators are currently on the scene with the left lane between J12 Firhouse and J13 Ballinteer of the M50 currently closed.

According to AA Roadwatch, there are queues of about 8 km in both directions.

“It is heavy on the M50 and in the Ballyboden area as emergency services are facing a serious collision,” they said.

“The M50 has tails of around 8 km in both directions approaching the serious collision between J12 Firhouse and J13 Ballinteer – it is on the south side, with the left lane blocked.
