A man in his 40s has been charged in connection with an attempted armed robbery of a bank in the city of Dublin.
The man was arrested yesterday for the Baggot Street Lower robbery that took place more than a year ago.
At around 3 p.m. on December 23, 2019, a man broke into the bank with an alleged firearm, threatening staff and demanding cash.
The attacker left the scene empty-handed, but Gardai moved quickly and recovered an imitation firearm from the scene, as well as discarded clothing from the nearby suspect.
Through DNA analysis and after a lengthy investigation, a suspect was identified who was attacked during an operation in Dublin 8 on Wednesday morning.
Uniformed Gardaí and the Pearse Street Station Serious Crimes Unit arrested the man, interrogated him at the Pearse Street Garda station before charging him.
He is expected to appear before a session of the Dublin District Court.
