Man dies in hospital after brutal assault in central Dublin

A man died in hospital after sustaining serious head injuries in a brutal assault in Dublin city center.

The man, who was around 40 years old, was attacked in the early hours of Wednesday in Seville Place, Dublin 1.

He was taken to Mater Hospital after the attack, where he was pronounced dead this morning, Dublin Live reports.

The man’s body was taken to the Dublin City Morgue, where Dr. Heidi Okkers of the State Pathologist’s Office performed a post-mortem examination this afternoon.

“Preliminary results of the autopsy have been provided to the Gardaí, the details of which cannot be disclosed for operational reasons,” said a Garda spokesman.

“An investigation into the incident and all the circumstances surrounding the man’s death continues.

“No arrests have been made in the case to date, but the Gardaí is following a defined line of investigation.

“Gardaí researchers are renewing their appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.
