Man dies after motorcycle crashed when ‘off road’ in Edenderry

A MAN has died after his motorcycle crashed when he “went off the road” this morning.

The incident occurred on the R401 near Edenderry. Co Offaly, around 10am.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Tullamore are asking for witnesses after a fatal traffic collision in Edenderry, Co Offaly on Saturday 5 September 2020.

“Shortly after 10 am, a man in his 20s was seriously injured when his motorcycle ran off the road while traveling on the R401 near Edenderry.

“The alarm was raised and Gardaí and the Emergency Services came to the scene.

“The motorcyclist was pronounced dead shortly after.

“The local coroner was notified and the deceased has been transferred to the morgue at Tullamore Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be performed.

“Garda’s forensic collision investigators are examining the crash site and there are local deviations.

“Gardaí investigators are asking for witnesses and those with video images (including dash cam) and recordings along the route at the time of the collision to contact them.”
