A 42-year-old man has been placed in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of another man in Enniscorthy last May.

David Bolger, residing at Irish Street, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, appeared in Gorey District Court this afternoon in connection with the death of Przemyslaw Klimczuk on 1 May.

Garda Detective Paul Hayes told the court that he arrested the defendant at 11:51 a.m. today on Irish Street and charged him at 12:33 p.m. at Enniscorthy Garda Station.

The defendant did not respond to the charge.

The State requested a preventive detention and Judge John Cheatle ordered the defendant to appear before the Cloverhill District Court by video link next Tuesday, September 8.

Attorney Edward King, on behalf of the defendants, requested legal assistance, which was granted after the court heard that Mr. Bolger is unemployed.

The lawyer also asked that his client be given the medication he is currently taking while in pre-trial detention, and the judge ordered this.

Prezemylslaw Klimczuk was originally from Poland, but lived in Co Wexford for a few years.

He was found seriously injured after an incident at a property in Ashbrook, Enniscorthy, on May 1 and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
