A “loving and loyal” man tragically streamed his own death on Facebook with the TikTok app struggling to remove the clip that his users are sharing.

The harrowing images went viral on the social media platform after 33-year-old Ronnie McNutt committed suicide at home while sitting at a desk.

A friend wrote: “Please say a prayer for Ronnie McNutt’s family right now. He just killed himself live on FB and I can’t stop watching this.

“I tried, but apparently it wasn’t fast enough to get to him. I wasn’t fast enough. My God, I wish I could have gotten to him.”

Ronnie’s death occurred in Mississippi on August 31, with TikTok now desperately trying to remove any clip from the incident and banning anyone from re-uploading it.

There are reports that the video appeared on TikTok’s “For You” trending home page, which would have made it difficult to avoid the images.

Countless social media users have claimed they saw the clip inadvertently and have warned others not to click on the thumbnail (which shows a bearded man in glasses talking to someone on the phone), reports the Daily Star.

“If you see this guy in your FYP [For You page] please scroll up right away, it’s very scary and I suggest you stay away from TikTok for a while, “said one Twitter user.

“I was scrolling through TikTok and suddenly there is a video of a guy who committed suicide with a shotgun and I seriously warn you NOT to look at it. said another.

A TikTok spokesperson said: “On Sunday night clips of a suicide that had been streamed live on Facebook circulated on other platforms, including TikTok.

“Our systems have automatically detected and flagged these clips for violating our policies regarding content that depicts, praises, glorifies or promotes suicide.

“We are banning accounts that repeatedly attempt to upload clips and we thank our community members who have reported the content and warned others not to view, participate in or share such videos on any platform out of respect for the person and their family.

“If someone in our community is struggling with thoughts of suicide or is concerned about someone who is, we encourage them to seek support and provide access to hotlines directly from our app and in our Safety Center.”

McNutt, a former Army veteran who served in Iraq, worked at a Toyota plant in Blue Springs, New Albany. There are unconfirmed reports that he lost his job and broke up with his girlfriend before committing suicide.

He was a member of Celebration Church Tupelo, which confirmed his death in a post on his Facebook page on September 1.

“In the midst of a sudden tragedy that occurred last night, we mourned with the McNutt family during this time over the passing of our brother in Christ, Ronnie McNutt,” he said.

“Ronnie will be missed by all who loved and knew him. He was very loving, committed, loyal, trustworthy and eccentric. He served his church faithfully and was loved by many.

“Although the events surrounding his death were tragic, we are comforted by our Creator, believing that because of Ronnie’s confession and conversion as a believer in Jesus Christ, he now stands before our loving Father.”

The church has launched an online fundraiser to raise money for Mr. McNutt’s family.
