A man was arrested in connection with the seizure of 116 bicycles in Dublin late last year.
Gardai discovered a container with the pedals inside on Saint Stephen’s Day.
After another search in Co Cavan on Friday, a man in his 40s was arrested, while cash and memory cards containing photos of allegedly stolen bikes were also discovered.
Meanwhile, 122,500 euros were frozen in various bank accounts.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí investigates the seizure of a container of 116 pedal bicycles on Thursday 26 December 2019, at the allotment in Newcastle, County Dublin, arrested a man following a related search operation in Cavan County on Friday, Aug.28, 2020.
“At approximately 6:30 am, Gardaí attached to the Street Crimes Unit and the District Detective Unit on Pearse Street conducted a search of a residence in Drumgola Wood, Cavan Town, Cavan County.
During the course of this search, a large amount of financial documentation was recovered, in addition to 7,000 euros in cash and memory cards containing photographs of alleged stolen property, including bicycles.
“Following further investigations into the seized financial documentation, a total of € 122,500 was frozen in various bank accounts and another € 6,000 in cash was located in a follow-up search of the residence.
“A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is currently being held at Pearse Street Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
