A man was arrested after Gardai foiled a regrettable robbery in Cork City last night.
Officers were called to a pharmacy on Oliver Plunkett St early this morning after a man smashed the front window with a sledgehammer before entering.
The theft was caught on CTTV, the alarm was activated and members of the public called the guards who came down within minutes.
Officers waited at the window hole while the man was inside, and an arrest was soon made and the stock recovered.
There were no victors like the thief, who got into the small hole, damaged the butt and left a trail of blood after cutting himself with the glass.
Gardai is now left with some nice paperwork, the workers are left with a big mess, and a man could have an appointment with a judge to come.
Gardai confirmed the incident by saying that a 20-year-old man is currently being held in Bridewell.
A spokesperson said: “Gardaí arrested a man in connection with a robbery in Cork City on September 10, 2020.
