Man and woman arrested after woman seriously assaulted in Cork city center

A man and a woman have been arrested by Gardaí in Cork City in connection with a serious assault that occurred last night in Grand Parade.

Gardaí received a report that a woman had been attacked in Grand Parade and went to the scene together with emergency services around 8:10 pm

The woman, who is in her 20s, was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment for serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Two people, a man in his 20s and a woman in her teens, were arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Bridewell Garda Station and Togher Garda Station.

They were detained under article 4 of the Criminal Justice Law.

The Division’s Crime Scenes Unit conducted an examination of the scene and local businesses requested CCTV and it will be reviewed.

Gardaí said they are now requesting witnesses.
