A motorcyclist was tragically killed after an accident in Tipperary.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on the R497 near Kilcommon at around 2.10pm
Gardai ran to the scene and discovered a motorcycle in a ditch.
A man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
A garda spokesman said: “The Gardaí in Templemore is investigating a fatal single vehicle traffic collision that occurred on R497 Reiska, Kilcommon, Co. Tipperary this afternoon.
Gardaí went to the scene and a motorcycle was found in a ditch.
“The motorcyclist (late 1940s) was mortally wounded. His body has been moved from the scene to the morgue in Templemore, where an autopsy will be performed in due course.
“The road is currently closed due to a technical examination being carried out by the forensic collision investigators.
“The road is expected to be open in the morning. Local detours are in place at the moment.
“Gardaí in Thurles are asking for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
“They are also attractive to road users who may have images from the camera (including the dash cam) traveling on the R497 Reiska, Kilcommon, so that the images are available to Gardaí.
“Anyone with information should contact the Thurles Garda station on 0504 25100, the confidential Garda line at 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
