Major climate change is expected on the day of the Eireann meeting as unusual conditions hit Ireland

We have had a good time for the past week.

However, Met Éireann’s predictions for next week look pretty grim.

It seems that a rain patch awaits us, with conditions that should become unstable from next Wednesday onwards.

And even though we are close to April, we are likely to see some unusual winter showers towards the end of the week, with temperatures cooling significantly.

Here’s the full day-by-day forecast:

Monday

Monday will be very cloudy with light rain and drizzle, mostly in the western and southern coastal counties.




There will be occasional sunny breaks during the day, but the highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with moderate winds from south to southwest, cooling off the northwestern shores later.

Tuesday

Tuesday will be windy and mostly cloudy with occasional outbreaks of light rain or drizzle.

Higher temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with moderate southerly winds. The winds pick up later in the afternoon when a band of rain crosses the country to the east at night, and the winds also become strong on the western shores. It will cool overnight with lower temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees.

Wednesday

Wednesday will be changeable with windy and rainy conditions that will bring longer periods of rain at times. Also dry and shiny spells, the best of which will be further east. Higher temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with cool, gusty winds from the southwest, strong in the western coastal areas.

There will be windy conditions with a combination of rain and clear spells on Wednesday night, with longer spells expected overnight. Lower temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with moderate to cool and gusty southwest winds.

Thursday

Thursday morning will bring torrential rain in some areas, with a heavier band of rain crossing the country during the day. Higher temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees with cool, gusty winds.

Widespread rains will follow the rain and continue into the night, with the risk of some heavy rains in the west and northwest. It will be cold with lower temperatures of 1 to 4 degrees, with rains possibly turning wintry at times.

Friday

Friday will be windy or windy with widespread showers mixed with bright, sunny spells. Risk of heavy rains, possibly wintry at times. Cold sensation with maximums of 5 to 8 degrees and fresh winds from the west, stronger on the Atlantic coasts. The rains are likely to subside overnight, but it will still be windy. Lower temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees.
