Cork’s Late Late Toy Show star Adam King will relive his magical moment from the other side of the screen tonight after reuniting with his family today.

The inspiring space-loving six-year-old won the heart of the world last night after meeting his hero JD from Temple St live on the most watched TV show of the year.

Adam traveled from Youghal with Dad David while his brothers Danny, Katie, Robert and baby Sarah watched with Mom Fiona at the family home.

More than 1.5 million people tuned in to watch him tell Ryan Tubridy about his dream of being a NASA commander, and when asked about being an astronaut, he said he couldn’t because of his brittle bones.

Adam was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). It is a condition that causes brittle bones and stunted growth, which can make you prone to fractures.

Despite this, he is still a very active kid – he plays with TWO GAA clubs and soccer with Youghal United. Tennis will also start next week.

“Instead, you can be the guy with the mic down on the floor,” Tubridy replied when Adam told her of his future plans.

Tubs hopped on a rocket ship before Adam rose from his chair to give him an official countdown, and right after that he was surprised by a visit from his favorite celebrity – Temple St Hospital janitor John Doyle.

Images of Adam’s face lit up were spread around the world and his infectious demeanor was admired by everyone, including people at NASA.

David, an excited father, told CorkBeo of his pride that the boy we saw on TV is exactly the way he is in real life.

He said: “It has been beautiful to see this outpouring of people in Ireland and around the world. It is very humbling. To say that we are overwhelmed is an understatement.

“It was very emotional to watch from backstage, it was beautiful, I was so impressed with how relaxed Adam was.

Adam stole the heart of a nation on the Late Late Toy Show

“Apart from all the wonder and magic of the toy show, as a parent, all you want is for your child to feel comfortable and be himself.”

“He did all of that, he was absolutely himself and he looked so genuinely on camera.

“Ryan was masterful to him. You could see they had such a good relationship and he got on so well.

“For him to have such an enjoyable experience, and meeting JD was wonderful for him.”

John Doyle of Temple St

David thought John’s treatment as a celebrity was “the right order” and said what happened was a “testament to the wonderful job he does and the work everyone does at Temple St.”

“It was fantastic to see how he got on board with JD, it’s the kind of things in the past that would be reserved for a celebrity. But I think it’s the right order for him to get that kind of reaction from the public and Adam and it’s a testament to the wonderful work that they do. does and the work everyone does at Temple St.

“It was a lovely moment meeting him and chatting with him backstage. We had a long conversation about the magical nature of the giant peach he walked into. Adam is convinced he went home in the thing.”

The “favorite Irish celebrities” are Michael D and two hospital workers.

“Adam was asked before the show who his favorite Irish celebrities were. He turned three people down.

“Michael D Higgins because his mother says Michael D is cute little like him, left his nurse Marie Mac from CUH, she’s from Seahorse Ward and he loves her, and he looked down on John Doyle. They were his best famous Irishmen .

“It is a reflection of their world. Much of their life revolves around visits to Temple St and visits to CUH. They are there helping with challenges and struggles that people don’t see.

“That’s why it was such a wonderful and magical thing last night.”

Family video call

David described Mam Fiona as “the engine” of the family and said that Adam is “just the wonderful child that he is because he has a wonderful mother behind him.”

“Fiona is the glue that holds it all together. She can’t be credited enough.

“They called them on video as soon as they got home and she was the first to talk to him.

“She told him ‘Adam, you were absolutely wonderful, you were yourself, you were amazing.’

“I think the way we both look at it is that we’re so glad the world saw an Adam that we know, his friends and schoolmates know it, and everyone here knows it.

“He is an incredible child who, like many others, has a dream.”
