David Luiz and Mikel Arteta are no longer speaking after the Arsenal manager promised to uproot whoever leaked information about the Brazilian’s fight with Dani Ceballos, according to reports.
Reports suggested that Luiz and Ceballos had been involved in a physical altercation after an argument after a training match between teams during the international break.
While it was claimed that Luiz had drawn blood from Ceballos during the exchange, Arteta recently said the incident was no different than any other disagreement at the training ground.
OPINION: Same old Arsenal, a damning indictment of Arteta’s leadership
However, he also promised to find out who leaked the details of the confrontation to the media and said there would be “consequences”.
“I don’t like the fact that that incident comes to light at all,” Arteta said.
“I’ll find out where it comes from, and if that’s the case, that’s completely against what I expect from each other, the privacy and confidentiality that we need, and there will be consequences.”
And now Soccer – London states that Arteta’s relationship with Luiz “has deteriorated in recent weeks, with neither the coach nor the player speaking directly to each other.”
The report makes clear that Arsenal have denied that, although their representative issued a statement, it said: “David Luiz strongly denies this story about him and Arteta and insists that he has a good relationship with Arteta and wishes nothing more than success” .
The report adds that “several first-team players’ agents informed the media of the confrontation between Dani Ceballos and David Luiz.”
Arteta apparently ‘told his squad at an internal meeting in London Colney that he will’ destroy ‘whoever is behind the leaks.’
