Former Great British Bake Off finalist Luis Troyano sadly passed away at the age of 48.

The star passed away after a battle with esophageal cancer last week.

Her agent Anne Kibel confirmed the news, telling The Sun: “Sadly, my lovely client lost her valiant fight against esophageal cancer last week.

“A fantastic man with a love of baking who saw him reach the GBBO final, write a wonderful book, Bake It Great and do so much more. Always on our minds.”

Luis reached the final of the Great British Bake Off in 2014, when it aired on the BBC and was hosted by Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc.

She narrowly missed out on winning the title to fellow finalist Nancy Birthwistle.

After his success on the show, Luis enjoyed a successful career in bakery.

He appeared on the BBC Good Food and BBC Breakfast programs.

In 2015, she released her own cookbook called Bake It Great.

Our thoughts are with Luis’s family at this difficult time.
