Love Island canceled when ITV chiefs confirm coronavirus risk too high

Love Island has been canceled for the first time.

The dating show pulled out of daylight saving time after bosses confirmed that the coronavirus poses too great a risk, reports The Sun.

Television executives have said the show cannot go forward as contestants’ safety cannot be guaranteed amid the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Kevin Lygo, ITV Director of Television, said: “We have tried to make Love Island this summer in every way, but logistically it is not possible to produce it in a way that safeguards the well-being of all involved and that for us is the priority.

“Under normal circumstances, we would be preparing very soon to travel to Mallorca to prepare the villa, but it is clear that this is out of the question.

ITV bosses are also believed to be discussing this year’s filming of the Isle of Love in the UK.

“We deeply regret fans of the show, but doing it safely is our top concern and Love Island will return stronger than ever in 2021. Meanwhile, Love Island fans can still enjoy all six Love Island series on BritBox.” .
