Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Wolves forward Diogo Jota after completing a move for Thiago Alcantara.

The 23-year-old was excluded from Nuno Espirito Santo’s team for Thursday’s League Cup loss to Stoke for unspecified reasons.

Nuno simply stated that he was “not available”, but the reason for his absence appears to be due to the interest of the Premier League champions.

That’s according to Paul Joyce, a reporter from The times, who has confirmed the interest of the Reds.

Liverpool are eager to beef up their attacking options and were reportedly interested in Watford forward Ismaila Sarr, but the £ 40m valuation has put them off.

Now it looks like Jota, who has scored 16 goals in 67 top flight appearances for the Wolves, is his main target.

It could round out a very good week for Liverpool, who have now confirmed the signing of Thiago from Bayern Munich for £ 26m.
