A man tragically died in a fatal accident between a car and a truck on Tuesday.
The tragic incident occurred around 6.55pm on Tuesday night.
The Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene where a man in his 30s was tragically pronounced dead.
His body has been transferred to Galway University Hospital for autopsy.
A man in his 40s was taken to Ballinasloe Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident occurred around 1 1/2 km outside the town of Shannonbridge.
Forensic collision investigators are conducting an examination of the scene and the road is currently closed with detours in place.
Gardai is attractive to witnesses and also road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam) along the route at the time of the collision to present themselves.
