Line of Duty’s Martin Compston responds to trolls who accuse him of evading taxes

Martin Compston has talked about how he’s been monitored on a daily basis since he found fame at Line Of Duty nine years ago.

The actor, who plays DS Steve Arnott in the hit BBC drama, said how frustrated he is when people accuse him of evading taxes and shame him for having a second home in America.

In an interview with The Sun, Martin, 36, explained how ‘every penny I make is taxable’ and the reasons why he owns a home in Las Vegas and Greenock, Scotland.

Martin said trolls constantly accuse him of not trying to reduce his HMRC tax bill by spending time in the United States, where his wife, Tianna Chanel Flynn, 33, is from.

He said: ‘It gets a little on my nerves, if I went to St Andrews or Eton and had a ski chalet in Switzerland or a villa in the south of France, some people would think you are in a position to do it. run the country.

But I’m from Greenock, I’m working class and I’ve done well. I get abused every day on Twitter, but you put up with it a bit. ”

Martin said that although he has learned to “have thick skin,” trolling can turn “dark” and become hurtful.

The actor told the publication that while he has a home in Las Vegas, he spends most of his time at his home in Scotland.

On the constant accusations of the trolls of evading taxes, Martin replied: “Every penny I earn is taxed in Scotland, and I mean full tax.”

The actor said that while many in the industry pay themselves through companies, which would lower taxes, “he doesn’t believe in it.”

Martin said he ‘pays a maximum tax’ and believes that whoever earns more should pay more.

The Nest star said that in her ideal world she would spend summers in Greenock and winter in Las Vegas.

Martin had to go through a lockdown in the United States, but he said it was amazing to spend an extended period of time with his wife and two-year-old son.
