The SEMPLE Stadium in Thurles is the venue for the 2020 Munster SHC Final between Limerick and Waterford.
A meeting of Munster GAA officials Thursday evening confirmed the venue for the final, which will take place behind closed doors on Sunday, November 15.
The last Limerick-Waterford final was played at Semple Stadium in 2007, the last Limerick final at Thurles, when the attendance was 48,700.
The final will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be televised live on RTE.
Declan Hannon, Nickie Quaid and Graeme Mulcahy are in line to begin their fourth Munster SHC final: winners in 2013 and 2019, finalists defeated in 2014.
Winning the Munster final would lead John Kiely’s Limerick straight to the All-Ireland SHC semi-final on Sunday 29 November, while the loss would mean a quarter-final draw between All-Ireland on the weekend of 21 / November 22th.
Limerick will attempt to win a 21st title and successfully defend a Munster SHC title for the first time since 1980-81.
In fact, Limerick has only successfully defended a Munster SHC title six times: 1911, ’34, ’35, ’36, ’74 and ’81.
The week of Sunday will be Limerick’s 48th final appearance; it will be a 30th final for Waterford, who is chasing a 10th title.
