Limerick drivers caught speeding during 24-hour nationwide crackdown

Several motorists have been caught speeding in parts of Limerick this Friday.

The notable detections, which have been highlighted by gardai, were made as part of the National Speed ​​Reduction Day that began at 7 a.m. and will continue until 7 a.m. Saturday.

With the support of the Road Safety Authority, the overall goal is to reduce the number of speed-related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on Irish roads.

Members of the Highway Surveillance Unit and other Gardai are conducting additional speed control checks as part of the semi-annual initiative.

Local detections so far include:

  • 76 km / h in a 50 km / h zone on Ballinacurra Road, Limerick
  • 77 km / h in a 60 km / h zone on the N20 at Ballyfookeen, Bruree
  • 68 km / h in a 50 km / h zone on the R527 at Ballysimon Road, Limerick
  • 62 km / h in a 50 km / h zone on the R510 at Dock Road, Limerick
  • 65 km / h in a 50 km / h zone on the R522 in Appletown, Feohanagh
  • 132 km / h in a 100 km / h zone on the N18 at Clonmoney North, Bunratty
