HOSPITALS IN LIMERICK and Ennis have said that some appointments and procedures scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be canceled as hospitals grapple with the Covid-19 outbreaks.

Tomorrow and friday all routine outpatient appointments and most elective procedures will be canceled at Limerick University Hospital and Ennis Hospital, as both hospitals manage active Covid-19 outbreaks.

The following services continue tomorrow and Friday at both hospitals:

  • Emergency / trauma room
  • Cancer and other time-critical surgeries (patients are contacted directly)
  • Cancer Day Room (chemotherapy and radiotherapy)
  • Rapid Access Cancer Clinics (Breast, Lung, Prostate)
  • Melanoma dermatology clinic
  • Urgent Outpatient Appointments
  • Dialysis
  • Palliative care

A statement on Twitter said:

We regret the impact these service interruptions will have on our patients; however, these measures are now necessary in the interest of patient and staff safety as we handle these Covid-19 outbreaks.

“Patients whose procedure or appointment is affected by the cancellations are being contacted directly by the hospital.

“Our affected patients will be rescheduled as soon as possible.”
