Lidl Ireland issues an urgent recall of store-sold vacuums this month for fear of fire risk

LIDL Ireland has issued an urgent recall of handheld vacuum cleaners sold in stores last week.

Supermarket bosses say there is a risk of fire while charging or using the SilverCrest hand vacuum.

The product went on sale in Irish Lidl stores from 21 September 2020 and around 2,204 were sold here.

Lidl says that customers should stop using the product immediately and return it to the nearest store for a full refund.

The affected products have the model number 339791_1910 and the serial number is 008602, which can be found on the product nameplate label.

STOP USING THE PRODUCT

A recall notice posted in the Consumer and Competition Commission reads: “Lidl Ireland GmbH is conducting a voluntary recall of its SilverCrest handheld vacuum products.

“Affected SilverCrest hand vacuum products were sold in Lidl Ireland stores as of September 21, 2020.

“A safety issue has been identified for which there may be a risk of fire while charging or using the product.

“The full name of the affected product is SilverCrest SHAZ 22.2 D Handheld Vacuum.

“The model number is 339791_1910 and the serial number is 008602. The model and serial numbers can be identified on the product nameplate label.

“The recall affects approximately 2,204 products in the Republic of Ireland.

“Lidl Ireland GmbH will display point of sale posters in its stores to inform consumers of this recall.

“If you believe you have purchased this product, you should immediately stop using it and return the product and associated battery to a Lidl store, where you will be offered a full refund.

“If you need more information, you can contact Lidl’s customer service number at 1800 20 10 80.”

RECOVER ALERT

Argos Ireland last week recalled three high chairs for fear that the backs of the chairs could fail and cause the children to fall.

Parents are told to stop using the Cuggl Little Sheep, Plum and Pumpkin Deluxe high chairs immediately.

2,784 of the highchairs were sold in Ireland.

Customers are asked to return the highchairs to their nearest Argos store for a full refund, and they will not need your receipt.

The three highchairs affected by the recall are: the Cuggl Little Sheep Deluxe highchair, catalog number 819/5584, the Cuggl Plum Deluxe highchair, catalog number 759/3187 and the Cuggl Pumpkin Deluxe highchair, catalog number 707/8956 .

And Dunnes Stores this month issued an urgent recall of all batches of its My Family Favorites cooked chicken pieces and Tikka cooked chicken pieces.

Products have been recalled from shelves due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

All lot codes and all 240g expiration dates are being retrieved.
