He captioned the photo: “I’m 16 in my apartment, but I’ve never had a Christmas tree before. I’ve never been home. This year has been different. A silver lining, pandemic.”
In the photo you can see Matt and Leo smiling between their festively decorated tree. He also shared another photo of the tree to give his followers a closer look.
Friends of the politician quickly ran to the comment section to praise his efforts and wish the couple a Merry Christmas.
One user wrote: “Nice you have time this year. No job should take that away from you both.”
Another said: Good man Leo … I wish you both a very merry, peaceful and safe Christmas. “
A third added: “Merry Christmas Leo, Matt and your families. Thanks for all the good work this year. Enjoy your break.”
A fourth commented: “Fabulous decorations, I hope you both have a fabulous Christmas and a well deserved break x”.
It appears that the couple were enjoying a date night at home decorating the impressive tree.
The couple is not yet engaged and has no children, but is totally in love.
They are both huge Kylie Minogue fans and enjoy hiking and keeping fit together.
Leo has said that this is the first serious relationship he has ever had and described Matt as “a very special person”.
He previously told Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show: “It’s great to have someone who is unconditionally on your side, someone who can tell me when you have something wrong, sometimes you need to be told that you are wrong!”
Matt and Leo moved in together last August despite having “very different” schedules that can be difficult for them.
